ICT killzones

Also called kill zones. What it means, how it looks on a gold (XAUUSD) chart, and the mistake most traders make with it.

ICT killzones: Killzones are the times of day when ICT expects the biggest moves: Asian 20:00–00:00, London 02:00–05:00, New York AM 07:00–10:00, London close 10:00–12:00 and New York PM 13:30–16:00, all in New York time.

ICT killzones on a gold chart

Gold's largest daily moves usually come in the London and New York AM killzones. US data at 08:30 New York time falls inside the New York AM killzone, which is why setups there move further.

How traders use it

Traders only look for entries inside killzones and ignore setups that form at quiet times. Our live market hours clock shows the killzones in your own time zone.

Common mistake

Using the times in the wrong time zone, or forgetting daylight saving. Killzones are defined in New York time and move in GMT twice a year.
