XAUUSD EA results in MT5
Run in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester on real ticks, cross-checking the four-year backtest.
| Test (hypothetical) | Return | Profit factor | Max equity DD |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10,000 at 1% risk, Jul 2022 – Sep 2026 | +134% | 3.05 | 4.4% |
| 2026 with the Free Add, 1% risk | +32% | 4.28 | 5.3% |
| 2026 with the Free Add, 2% risk | +89% | – | 10.9% |
Higher risk raised the return but doubled the drawdown, which is why we suggest starting at 1%. Learn how to read these reports in how to backtest an EA in MT5.
Backtest figures are hypothetical: tested on historical XAUUSD data with costs included, not live account results. Live results will differ and are usually weaker. Every live signal is recorded on the live results page, losses included. How the model was tested.
- ContextHigher-timeframe imbalance zones (fair value gaps) on the 1-hour, 2-hour and 3-hour charts are mapped and kept current.
- ReactionPrice has to reach a zone and show it is being defended. A touch alone is not enough.
- ConfirmationA market structure shift on the 15-minute chart confirms the turn before anything is risked.
- ExecutionA limit entry with the stop beyond the swing and the zone, a partial profit at the opposite zone and a trailed runner.

XAUUSD EA FAQ
Which brokers does the XAUUSD EA work with?
Any broker that offers gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 5. Attach it to your broker's gold symbol on the 15-minute chart. A hedging account is needed for the optional Free Add; netting accounts work without it.
Does the EA use a grid, martingale or averaging down?
No. Every trade has a stop loss from the moment it is placed, and size comes from a fixed % of your balance. The only extra position is the optional Free Add, which opens only once the first trade is already at breakeven.
How many MT5 accounts can I use it on?
One licence works on one MT5 account. You enter the account number in My account → My products, and the EA checks your plan automatically.
Do I need a VPS?
Strongly recommended. The EA only trades while MT5 is open and connected, and trades can be held for several days. A Windows VPS keeps it running 24/5. See do you need a forex VPS.
Can I use the EA on a prop firm account?
If your firm allows EAs, yes. Start at 1% risk: in the 2026 MT5 test that gave a 5.3% maximum equity drawdown, while 2% reached 10.9%. A dedicated prop mode is coming soon. Read EA rules at prop firms and check your firm's current rules.
Can I backtest the EA myself before trading it?
Yes. The EA runs in the MT5 Strategy Tester without a licence, so you can test it on your own broker's data first. Use real ticks and a realistic spread.
What happens when my plan ends?
The EA stops opening new trades and removes any unfilled order, but a trade that is already open is still managed to the end. Renew to carry on; the new month starts when the current one ends, so no days are lost.
Is the Strategy Tester result a guarantee?
No. Tester and backtest results are hypothetical, and live trading is usually weaker because of spreads, slippage and execution. Test it on a demo account first.
