Gold pip value

Also called pip, point, tick. What it means, how it looks on a gold (XAUUSD) chart, and the mistake most traders make with it.

Gold pip value: For gold, most traders count in dollars of price rather than pips. A $1 move in XAUUSD is $100 per standard lot. Some platforms call $0.10 a pip and $0.01 a point, which is where the confusion starts.

Gold pip value on a gold chart

Gold moving from $4,100.00 to $4,101.00 is a $1 move: 10 'pips' on many brokers, 100 'points' in MT5. On 0.01 lot it is worth $1.
