PD array

Also called premium/discount array. What it means, how it looks on a gold (XAUUSD) chart, and the mistake most traders make with it.

PD array: PD array is ICT's umbrella term for the price levels used for entries and targets: order blocks, fair value gaps, breakers, mitigation blocks, old highs and lows, and rejection blocks, ranked by whether they sit in premium or discount.

PD array on a gold chart

In a bullish gold market, the PD arrays in discount, such as a 1-hour fair value gap at $4,104–$4,112 and an order block at $4,092–$4,098, are where you look to buy; the ones in premium are targets.

How traders use it

Traders list the PD arrays on their bias timeframe and only trade the ones on the correct side of equilibrium.

Common mistake

Treating every array as equal. A fair value gap that came with a market structure shift outranks an old order block far from price.
