Important for readers in India. Indian residents may trade forex only through authorised entities on recognised Indian exchanges, in permitted currency pairs. Trading forex, gold or other CFDs with overseas brokers and sending money abroad for margin is not permitted under FEMA, and the RBI's Alert List names many overseas brokers, including several below (marked On RBI Alert List). This page is for readers where these brokers are licensed to serve them. Check the law where you live before opening an account. CFDs are complex, leveraged products and most retail accounts lose money.

Our verdict

Axi is an Australian broker with ASIC, FCA and CySEC licences that offers low raw-spread gold pricing on MT4 and MT5. It is not on the RBI Alert List, though international clients are typically served by an offshore entity.

Axi, formerly AxiTrader, was founded in 2007 in Sydney and holds Tier-1 licences from ASIC, the FCA and CySEC, with additional regulation in New Zealand and Dubai and an offshore entity in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Gold is available on three accounts: Standard, where costs are in the spread, and Pro and Elite, which offer raw spreads plus commission. CompareForexBrokers lists commissions of $4.50 round turn per lot on Pro and $3.50 on Elite, and BrokerChooser measured the gold spread at about $0.06 in September 2026. Axi does not publish a typical gold spread for the Standard account. Trading is limited to MT4 and MT5 plus Axi's mobile and copy-trading apps; there is no cTrader. Retail clients in Tier-1 jurisdictions receive 1:20 leverage on gold, negative balance protection and access to the FSCS or ICF, depending on the entity. There is no minimum deposit. BrokerChooser confirms Indian residents can open an account, and Axi does not appear on the RBI Alert List, though that does not mean it is authorised by the RBI. Indian clients would normally be served by an offshore entity with fewer protections. Axi suits MetaTrader users looking for low gold costs under a well-regulated group.
